For Mac OS, there are two different versions available: The default version requires at least Mac OS Lion and a 64-bit Intel processor. The legacy version provides support for older systems and 32-bit or PPC processors.

ClipGrab for Linux

ClipGrab is a GPLv3-licensed Open Source project and of course also available for Linux.

You can download a precompiled version that has been tested with the most recent version of Ubuntu. Alternatively, just grab the source code and compile ClipGrab yourself.

Which sites are supported?

ClipGrab can download videos from many different video sites. These include YouTube, Vimeo and Dailymotion.

Which formats are supported?

ClipGrab can convert downloaded videos to MPEG4, MP3, OGG Vorbis, OGG Theora and WMV. It also supports downloading the original FLV or MPEG4 videos without conversion.

Save YouTube videos to iPad

Unfortunately, Apple's policies don't allow software with this functionality on their devices. With ClipGrab, however, it is very easy to download videos on your PC or Mac and then transfer them on your mobile device.
